Experiences with the mortgage insurance system, housing financing, and construction in Guatemala
Uniapravi successfully conducted its Technical Mission to Guatemala from August 10-13, 2025. This mission provided a forum for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and best practices, with visits to various public and private entities in the housing finance, construction, and urban development sectors. It included presentation sessions, discussions, and field visits.
The event was attended by 18 foreign attendees, including delegates from CAMACOL and ASOBANCARIA of Colombia, Banco Hipotecario de la Vivienda of Costa Rica, Compañía de Titularización Hipotecaria of Ecuador, Financiera Confianza S.A.A and the Private Contributions Regime of Honduras, the Development Finance Agency of Paraguay, Grupo Bricket and ACOPROVI of the Dominican Republic, and GRUPO COYSERCA of Venezuela.
This Technical Mission allowed participants to explore and learn about the Insured Mortgage System (FHA), a successful model that articulates public and private actors in housing financing and production, the public policies, programs, and housing subsidies implemented in the country, the Municipal Priority and Affordable Housing Program (MUVIS), mortgage loan and financing solutions for builders and developers from major financial institutions, housing improvement programs, development of urban housing supply, as well as innovations in the construction industry, project visits, 3D printing, prototype visits, and production tours, among others.
